HOMETOWN DREAM: Embarkation 10" x 20" x 1" Transposed Video Still oil, mixed media on wood panel
The series of mixed media work entitled HOMETOWN DREAM: GOODBYE include video stills from an original 16 mm family movie commissioned in 1943 by my grandmother on the occasion of her son's military embarkation. See the rest in the Art Gallery.

HOMETOWN DREAM: When the Sky Became the Sea: The Street Floated over the Train 16" x 20" x 1" oil, mixed media on wood panel
I dreamed that I stood outside the train station near the crossing. The dark sky rolled and heaved, changing vapour into water -- so much water that the town floated away. See the rest of the series in the Art Gallery.

JOHNSTON CANYON: MELT 07 8" x 13.5" oil, mixed media on board
This work is permeated with a sense of transition and transformation. Turbulent water becomes still, ice thaws, water vapourizes. My notions of stability and permanence tumble into the enthusiasm of spilling canyon waters, mellow in still pools and dissipates, lost to the air.See the rest of this series in the Art Gallery.

In both these series of work, the combination of photographically based imagery along with the manipulative immediacy of paint enables the subject and object to merge and transform from form to mirage resulting in a more profound art form.
